— About —

Small by design. Clear point of view.

Markstone designs and produces branded merchandise for companies whose merch should mean something. We were founded on a simple idea: that the things companies give their people and their customers should be as considered as everything else they make.

— Philosophy —

Three things we believe.

On craft

Most branded merchandise is afterthought work — a logo slapped on a catalog item, ordered in bulk, forgotten by Q3. We start with the opposite assumption: that this piece will be held, worn, used, and remembered. Then we design it like it matters.

On taste

We don't have a house style. We have a house standard. Our work for a private equity firm looks different from our work for a coffee roaster — but both feel considered, both feel made-for-you, and both feel like Markstone made them.

On scale

We're small by choice. A bigger operation could take more clients, but couldn't give each one the attention we do. We work with a limited number of brands each year. If we're a fit, we're an exceptional fit. If we're not, we'll tell you.

— Approach —

How we work.

Every Markstone project moves through the same four phases. The work changes. The care doesn't.

Step 01 — Conversation

Every project starts with a real conversation, not a form. We want to understand the brand, the audience, the moment, and the budget. We don't pitch. We listen, then propose.

Step 02 — Concept

We come back with two or three considered concepts. Not a sample of everything we could do — a curated set of what we think you should do. Each one is paired with a recommended approach to materials, manufacturing, and budget.

Step 03 — Production

We handle everything — sourcing, sampling, manufacturing, quality control, fulfillment. You see prototypes before production. You see production samples before shipping. We don't surprise you.

Step 04 — Delivery

Kits arrive where they need to be, when they need to be there. We sweat the unbox experience, the inserts, the tissue, the packaging. The piece you commissioned is the start of the experience — not the whole of it.

— Why Markstone —

Two decades in the work.

Markstone started because the kind of merch I wanted to make wasn't the kind of merch most agencies were equipped to make. So I built something smaller, slower, and designed around the work.
